Privacy Policy

Sift is operated by Sift Shop LLC, a California limited liability company (“Sift,” “we,” “us”). This policy explains what information Sift collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We try to collect as little as possible.

1. Information we collect

• Account info: if you create an account, your email address — used to sign you in (with a password or an emailed link) and to send account emails like password resets.
• Your taste & activity: the items you swipe, like, and save, plus the style preferences, sizes, stores, and price range you set. This is what powers your recommendations.
• Profile details you add (optional): details you choose to enter, such as your name.
• Basic technical data: standard information needed to run and secure the Service, such as your IP address (used for rate-limiting and abuse protection).

We do not collect or store payment information — purchases happen on the retailer’s own site, never on Sift.

2. Where your data lives

By default, your preferences and activity are stored locally on your device. If you sign in, they’re also synced to our cloud (via Supabase) so you can pick up where you left off across devices.

3. How we use your information

• to personalize your product recommendations;
• to sync your data across your devices, if you’re signed in;
• to operate, maintain, and secure the Service; and
• if you choose to share a list, to show the favorites you’ve selected to people you share the link with.

4. Service providers

We don’t sell your personal data. We rely on a few trusted providers to run Sift:

• Supabase — account login and secure cloud storage of your data.
• Channel3 — provides product data and affiliate buy-links.
• Vercel & Upstash — hosting and security/rate-limiting infrastructure.

5. Shared lists

If you create a share link, anyone who has that link can view the favorites you’ve chosen to share. The link is private unless you share it, and it only ever shows those favorites — never your email, account, or any other information.

6. Affiliate links & cookies

When you click a product link, the retailer and its affiliate network may set cookies or receive standard referral data in order to attribute a purchase. This is how Sift earns a commission, at no extra cost to you.

7. Your choices

You’re in control of your data. In the app, you can edit your preferences anytime, or use “Reset everything” in Settings to clear it. Signing out removes your data from the device. To permanently delete your account and all synced data, use Settings → Delete account — deletion is immediate and also cancels any active Sift Plus subscription billed by Sift. You can also ask us to delete it for you using the email below.

California residents: you may ask us to access or delete the personal information we hold about you, and we won’t discriminate against you for exercising those rights. Sift does not sell your personal information.

8. Data retention

We keep your data while your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. Data stored only on your device stays until you clear it.

9. Children

Sift isn’t directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your region), and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
